- main fabric: 1 1/8 yard (at least 45 inches wide) in broadcloth, brocade, calico, chambray, corduroy, denim, poplin, satin, silk, or light to medium-weight wool
- contrasting lining fabric: 1/4 yard in cotton or silk
- 1 yard lightweight fusible interfacing
- 1/8 yard 1/2″ extra-wide double-fold bias tape, twill tape or ribbon (used to make tie keeper on the back)
- all-purpose thread to match your fabric
- embroidery floss to match or contrast tie keeper
- scissors, either new or used only on fabric
- disappearing or wash-out fabric ink pen
- pins
- pin cushion
- seam ripper
