men’s tie : supply list

  • main fabric: 1 1/8 yard (at least 45 inches wide) in broadcloth, brocade, calico, chambray, corduroy, denim, poplin, satin, silk, or light to medium-weight wool
  • contrasting lining fabric: 1/4 yard in cotton or silk
  • 1 yard lightweight fusible interfacing
  • 1/8 yard 1/2″ extra-wide double-fold bias tape, twill tape or ribbon (used to make tie keeper on the back)
  • all-purpose thread to match your fabric
  • embroidery floss to match or contrast tie keeper
  • scissors, either new or used only on fabric
  • disappearing or wash-out fabric ink pen
  • pins
  • pin cushion
  • seam ripper
  • the sew everything workshop by diana rupp (power tie pattern + instructions are inside!). we have copies of the book for sale in the make studio and it’s also available in most bookstores
